Manchester United are interested in signing RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons during the summer transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Red Devils are expected to make several changes to the squad in the summer and manager Ruben Amorim may want more creativity.
Simons signed for Leipzig on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain last winter, but the German outfit could sanction his sale this summer.
United are one of the long-term admirers of the Netherlands international, who has the ability to play on either wing or in attacking midfield.
Leipzig are expected to demand a package of around £67m and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can afford him in the off-season.
United have a tight budget at the moment, but the scenario could completely change if they qualify for the Champions League again.
For that to happen, the club need to win the Europa League this term. Otherwise, their summer spending could rely on player sales.
