Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
Branthwaite was a top target for the Red Devils last summer. They agreed personal terms with the centre-back, but a transfer did not materialise.
United were willing to pay around £50 million for the 22-year-old, but the Toffees were adamant that he was unavailable for less than £70m.
It is now reported that Arne Slot's side have joined the pursuit of the talented defender, who is open to leaving the Toffees at the end of the season.
Branthwaite has his sights on playing at the World Cup with England and believes he may have to leave the Toffees for a Three Lions recall.
Liverpool have been monitoring him for the last few weeks, but they are set to face competition from the Red Devils for the Carlisle United graduate.
United are eyeing a new left-footed centre-back after Lisandro Martinez's knee injury. Martinez could be sidelined for the rest of the year.
