Liverpool could go head-to-head with Arsenal to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has made a huge impression since joining the Eagles from Blackburn Rovers last year. He is currently an undisputed starter for the London outfit in all competitions.
His progress has already caught the eye of Gunners scouts, but The Sun claim that Arne Slot's side could compete with their London counterparts to purchase the highly-rated midfielder.
The Merseyside giants currently have Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch as assured starters in central midfield, but Slot may want a quality competitor to provide fierce competition.
Wharton would be a perfect candidate with his good vision and fantastic long-ball distribution. He is also good in making recoveries and winning duels when required.
The Reds are prepared to test Palace's resolve with a £50 million offer, but they could face competition from Arsenal, who are also eyeing a quality holding midfielder.
