Amorebieta happy at Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta has rejected rumours that he is set to make a move to the Premiership this summer, as Newcastle and Blackburn are both reportedly interested in the player. Amorebieta is keen to stay at Bilbao.

"I am an Athletic player and am very happy with my work and with the team. I am pleased that people here appreicate me here right now and that is all that matters," the 23-year-old quipped.



"In previous years, because of our situation and because I was playing on the left side of the defence, I was unable to show what I can do. I did not enjoy that and I made mistakes."



Amorebieta now looks set to stay at his club despite the interest of sides bigger than Bilbao.
