Manchester City and Liverpool could miss out on signing Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Germany international has been a key player for Leverkusen. He has registered 16 goals and 15 assists from 45 appearances this term.
However, he is poised to pursue a new challenge in the summer. Manchester City made contact earlier last week but have now pulled out of the race.
The Cityzens are reluctant to make a huge outlay of £250m for the player. This includes the transfer fee, agent commission as well as his wages.
Liverpol have not given up on the player but Tavolieri claims that the 22-year-old has made the decision to join champions Bayern instead.
There is no formal agreement with Leverkusen at the moment, but Bayern are planning to proceed with an approach in the coming days.
The news is a huge setback for the Reds, who were seemingly optimistic of convincing the player to leave the Bundesliga this summer.
