Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike before the Club World Cup next month.
The Blues have misfired in the final third this campaign and they are expected to pursue an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson soon.
The club have now made an approach for Eintracht star Ekitike, who has bagged 22 goals and 12 assists this campaign.
The Bundesliga outfit are open to sanctioning his departure if they receive around £67 million on the table for the marksman.
The Blues are not alone in the pursuit and could face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool for the highly-rated Frenchman.
Ekitike has yet to decide on his future, but he has his sights on pursuing a bigger challenge away from Eintracht this summer.
Despite the club qualifying for the Champions League, Ekitike believes he needs to move on to boost his chances of silverware.
Chelsea will be hoping to land him ahead of the chasing pack. They would ideally want him in the squad for the Club World Cup.
