Dutch defender Jorrel Hato has expressed his happiness following his long-awaited move to Chelsea from Ajax.
The Blues opened negotiations with Ajax for the versatile defender earlier last month, and they eventually secured an agreement for €42 million.
Hato underwent his medical with the Blues earlier this week, and he has now put pen to paper on a seven-year contract with the London giants.
Hato was delighted with the decision and he told the club's official website:
"I’m very excited, I’m so happy to be here. I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I’m very happy."
Hato was also on the radar of London rivals Arsenal earlier this summer, but they chose to land Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia instead for €17m.
The Dutchman started his career as a central defender, but played as a left-back for Ajax last term. His versatility should be useful for the Blues.
