Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a move for Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Loretz, one of the most highly regarded young shot-stoppers in Europe. The Blues are looking to add another keeper to their ranks before the end of the summer transfer window.

  • The 22-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks at FC Luzern and is now poised for a big step up in his career. Loretz began his journey at SC Kriens before joining Luzern's academy in 2014. After signing his first professional contract in 2021, he made his senior debut in February 2023 against Young Boys and never looked back.

His performances earned him Switzerland U19 and U21 caps, as well as a senior call-up in March 2025. Despite missing out due to injury, Loretz remains firmly in the national team's plans. He was also named Swiss Super League Player of the Month in August 2023, further cementing his reputation.

Chelsea's interest in Loretz reflects a strategy to invest in elite youth talent with long-term upside. Loretz is known for his composure, consistency, and shot-stopping ability. He has also impressed coaches with his mental resilience and ball playing skills, making him a strong fit for modern, possession-based systems.

A move to Stamford Bridge could see him initially serve as a backup, with the potential to develop into a long-term starter. It is understood that Chelsea are ready to pay around £12 million to sign the Swiss keeper.
