Carney Chukwuemeka will be allowed to leave Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis after the Bundesliga side agreed a 25 million euro transfer fee for the versatile attacker. Having spent the second half of the season on loan at Dortmund, the German outfit have opted to make a transfer permanent. Carney played 10 times in the Bundesliga, scoring one goal.
The departure of Jamie Gittens allows Dortmund at least one new player, and Chukwuemeka will be a like-for-like alternative for the Bundesliga team. Technically, Chukwuemeka excels as a dynamic box‑to‑box midfielder: strong in driving runs, intelligent in tight spaces, and effective in late attacking moves. He boasts a powerful shot from distance, good vision, and creative flair and his signing will be a major coup.
The Blues' manager Enzo Maresca has told Chukwuemeka that he is free to leave the club and has no future at Stamford Bridge. The winger has two years remaining on his contract having arrived at the Blues from Aston Villa in 2022. The 21-year-old is to be offered a long-term contract at his new club.
