MLS outfit LAFC are expected to announce the signing of forward Heung-min Son from Tottenham. The announcement will be made via a news conference at 2pm local time today.
The fee Tottenham will receive for the South Korean international is expected to be an estimated $27 million (£20 million), in what will be a new MLS transfer record fee. The deal eclipses the previous record of $21.5 million paid by Atlanta United for Emmanuel Latte Lath from Championship side Middlesbrough in January.
Son arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday morning ahead of the official announcement and was later seen at LAFC's BMO Stadium visiting fans and signing autographs.
The 33-year-old firmly established himself as a Tottenham Hotspur legend as he captained them to their Europa League triumph in May, putting an end to a 17-year long trophy drought for the North London club.
The South Korean paid an emotional farewell on Sunday in Seoul to the club in which he spent a decade at, since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 for £22 million. He has since made 454 appearances for the lilywhites, in which he scored 173 goals, the fourth most in the club's history.
Argentine Cristian Romero is expected to take over the armband, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.
