Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has been given the green light to depart Stamford Bridge, and the 27-year-old forward's agent has been in contact with several teams, and it is understood that Inter Milan and Nottingham Forest are in pole position to sign the Frenchman in a deal worth at least £40 million. Nottingham Forest have made the signing of a forward player their top priority, whilst Inter Milan have been linked with a deal for Nkunku for several weeks.
Nkunku arrived at Chelsea from RB Leipzig with a big reputation and an excellent goalscoring record, but Nkunku has not been able to reproduce the goalscoring statistics that made him one of the Bundesliga's top finishers. Six Premier League goals in 38 appearances will spell the end to Nkunku's time at Chelsea, and he has been informed that he is free to leave by the club's management.
Inter Milan are reportedly not able to match Nottingham Forest's reported offer of £37.5 million, but the player would prefer a transfer to Italy rather than Forest.
It is understood a transfer could be agreed before next week, enabling Nkunku to settle in to his new squad ahead of the new league season.
