Samuel Rak-Sakyi

Rak-Sakyi - an important youth prospect

Samuel Rak-Sakyi

08 August 2025 - 08:46

Samuel Rak-Sakyi is a talent to watch for the future, emerging through Chelsea's youth ranks as a young boy, the 20-year-old is patiently waiting for a first-team opportunity.

  • Italian duo make bid for Manchester United winger
  • Arsenal make surprise bid for German 22-year-old defender

  • Enzo Maresca, the Blues' manager, knows that he has a real talent on his hands in Rak-Sakyi and will be waiting for the appropriate time to blood the midfielder, potentially in a cup competition for Chelsea this season. The player will also likely be able to follow the lead of fellow youth prospect Leo Castledine, who headed to Huddersfield Town on loan last week, and receive some experience temporarily at another club. But make no mistake, Rak-Sakyi will likely be an important member of Chelsea's squad in the near future once he returns to Stamford Bridge.

He also played a part in Chelsea's successful Conference League campaign in 2024-25. Despite his young age, he displayed composure on the ball and a clear understanding of his role within the team structure, often linking play between defense and attack with maturity rarely seen in players at his development stage. His ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain possession in tight spaces allowed Chelsea to control the rhythm of the game, even in challenging away fixtures. These performances not only earned praise from coaching staff but also demonstrated that he is capable of handling the demands of senior football on the continental stage.

His best position is as a central midfielder, specifically in a holding or box-to-box role. Samuel possesses excellent vision and spatial awareness, allowing him to intercept passes and launch counterattacks quickly. His passing range is exceptional, capable of executing both short, incisive passes and longer diagonals to switch play. In defensive phases, he shows strong positional discipline and the willingness to engage in tackles and recover possession, which makes him a reliable presence in transitional moments.

What makes Rak-Sakyi such an important prospect for Chelsea’s future is the blend of his technical quality and football intelligence. As the club looks to build a more sustainable model with homegrown talent integrated into the first team, players like Samuel embody that vision. His ability to read the game, control midfield battles, and adapt to tactical demands make him a natural candidate to step into the senior squad in the coming years. If he continues his development trajectory, he could become a cornerstone of Chelsea’s midfield for the next decade.
