Manchester United have been handed bad news with midfield target Javi Guerra penning a new long-term deal at Valencia.
The Red Devils are keen on adding more quality in the centre of the park and they have identified Guerra as one of their top targets.
Calciomercato recently reported that the midfielder has a verbal agreement with United, but the Red Devils are yet to discuss a fee.
However, there has been a sudden twist to the saga. Guerra has now signed a new long-term contract with Los Che until June 2029.
Guerra was identified as a possible signing at United due to his huge potential, but the midfielder has chosen to stay at the Mestalla.
United still have plenty of alternative options at their disposal. They could pursue a deal for Brighton's Carlos Baleba in the near future.
The Seagulls value him at a staggering £100m and a deal will largely depend on whether United can secure sufficient transfer funds.
