Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has revealed why he turned down loan moves to Bournemouth and West Ham United this summer.
The centre-back was touted to leave the Blues on loan. Bournemouth and West Ham were willing to pay his wages, but a deal did not materialise.
Disasi has now revealed that he changed his stance on a Premier League loan after AS Monaco made a late approach to sign him.
The Ligue 1 outfit wanted a reunion with Disasi before the transfer deadline, but the Blues could not proceed to finalise a loan.
Disasi said: "In the period between the approaches from Bournemouth and West Ham, Monaco arrived and that hit me emotionally.
"I had three incredible years at Monaco. When they came in, all the memories came back. Monaco is home.
"I hoped that Chelsea would find a solution to allow me to leave on loan. I pushed until the last minute to go to Monaco."
The Blues had already used up their European loan spots following the departure of Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich.
As a result, Disasi had no choice but to stay with the Blues after he turned down proposals to join another English side on loan.
