Manchester United could revive their long-term interest in signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra during the January transfer window.
The Spaniard was heavily linked with the Red Devils during the summer, but he ended up signing a new long-term deal with a €100 million release clause.
This has not ended the speculation regarding his future and it is claimed that he could depart for just €20m this winter, given Los Che's financial woes.
Valencia have finished ninth and 12th in the last two La Liga seasons, but they are currently 17th in the table, only goal difference behind the drop zone.
If United were to recruit Guerra in January, it could pave the way for Mainoo to depart on loan, given his lack of playing time this campaign.
Mainoo is desperate for regular minutes in order to boost his chances of making England's World Cup squad at the end of the ongoing season.
He is willing to leave on a temporary basis for that to happen. West Ham United and Napoli have emerged as potential contenders to land him.
