Napoli are reportedly distancing themselves from Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serie A champions signed Rasmus Hojlund on loan from the Red Devils last summer, and there is an obligation to buy him if they qualify for the Champions League.
Napoli are expected to purchase him regardless of that and reports have claimed that they are keen to reunite Hojlund with Mainoo when the transfer window reopens.
However, that appears unlikely on the cards at the moment with the Red Devils hierarchy reluctant to entertain any kind of deal for the talented England international.
Mainoo has his sights on leaving the Mancunian giants on loan in January in order to boost his chances of making the World Cup squad with England next summer.
His request may not be fulfilled as manager Ruben Amorim wants sufficient depth in the midfield to handle any surprise injuries in the back end of the season.
