Manchester United have explored conditions to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba in January, according to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils were keen on landing the Cameroonian star last summer, but they could not secure an agreement with the Seagulls.
The club have continued to be linked with the former Lille man and it is claimed that a fresh enquiry has been made by the club.
However, a mid-season deal is unlikely on the cards. Brighton are quite clear that they won't entertain bids until the end of the season.
United are likely to save their budget for the talented defensive midfielder, but they could pursue a low-cost option in the coming weeks.
Al-Hilal star Ruben Neves is available for a knockdown price of 17 million pounds with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
United have held initial talks with the player's agents and could make an approach with Baleba unlikely to join in the current window.
