Manchester United called to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport.
The Red Devils looked at the prospect of landing Antoine Semenyo from the Cherries this winter, but he snubbed their interest.
Semenyo recently joined Manchester City and scored his maiden goal on debut against Exeter City in the FA Cup third round.
It is now revealed that the Red Devils also made an approach to Senesi, but the interest has faded with Ruben Amorim's exit.
Juventus are now leading the pursuit of the Argentine and are currently discussing terms for a free transfer next summer.
Senesi has no plans to extend his Cherries deal beyond June next year and has his sights on pursuing a bigger challenge.
United are no longer pursuing a deal for the player with the focus on finding a replacement for Amorim in the near future.
All transfer plans have been put on hold this winter with no permanent manager at the helm at the current point in time.
