Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Jamie Gittens has suffered a serious hamstring injury ahead of the Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road.
The Englishman suffered the setback against West Ham United last weekend, and he was subsequently taken off in the 26th minute.
Gittens was being examined in the last few days, and Rosenior has now provided bad news.
The Blues boss revealed that the versatile winger has sustained a hamstring tear and it is too early to provide an exact timescale for his recovery.
He said: "Jamie is looking more long term. It's a real shame. A tear in his hamstring. I can't ever say, it's too early [how long]."
Gittens has had a tough start to his Blues career, and the latest setback could potentially keep him on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
His absence is a blessing in disguise for Alejandro Garnacho, who has been the regular left winger for the Blues over the past few months.
