Manchester United are prepared to go head-to-head with Arsenal to purchase Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners were linked with the Italian star at the start of the year and there were suggestions that they are contemplating a summer approach for his services.
United have since joined the pursuit of the 28-year-old. They had scouts watching him in action during Inter's 3-2 win over Juventus in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri have been discussing a new deal with the talented defender, but they have yet to meet his wage requirements to commit his future.
Arsenal and United are keeping a close eye and they could enter a bidding war for the Italian, who could cost at least £35 million in the summer.
Dimarco has had a stupendous season for the Nerazzurri from left wing-back. He has already made 20 goal contributions in all competitions.
He has also played at left-back several times in the past and should seamlessly adapt to the role if he were to leave the San Siro giants.
