Arsenal are keen on landing the signature of midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, as per BILD.
The north London giants were linked with the Germany international during the recent transfer window after an injury setback to Mikel Merino.
Goretzka chose to stay with Bayern until the expiry of his contract (June 30) and reports claim that he could prefer a Premier League move thereon.
The 31-year-old has no desire to join another German outfit, while he does not appear interested in moving to Spain with Atletico Madrid either.
Hence, a switch to England could be on the cards. Arsenal could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the former Schalke 04 man.
Goretzka could be seen as a squad player by the Gunners. Merino and Christian Norgaard have a similar role in the squad at the moment.
Merino is presently out with a serious foot injury and there are doubts whether he will be deemed fit before the end of the campaign.
