Chelsea made a significant offer to sign Barcelona playmaker Fermin Lopez during last summer's transfer window, according to Cadena SER.
The Blues were determined to bolster their attack last summer and they looked at Lopez before purchasing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.
A formal bid was made on the table for the Spanish ace, but the Blaugrana were adamant that he was not for sale at any price before the transfer deadline.
The outlet reported: "There was a very significant offer for Fermin from Chelsea in the summer, but the player didn’t want to leave and we didn’t want to sell."
Lopez likewise wanted to continue with the Catalan giants and the decision has proved worthwhile with him having become a key player for the club this term.
The 22-year-old has already made 23 goal contributions in all competitions for the La Liga giants, who are top of the league ahead of Real Madrid at the moment.
