Arsenal are set to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie on a permanent basis this summer, according to The Sun.
The Gunners recruited the Ecuadorian star from Leverkusen on loan last summer. As part of the deal, the club have an option to purchase him for £45 million at the end of the campaign.
The Sun now report that Arsenal have already made the decision to sign Hincapie on a long-term basis. The loan deal agreed last summer was largely due to accounting purposes instead.
The hierarchy are clearly impressed by Hincapie's growing influence on the team. He has been a mainstay from the left-back position ahead of Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly recently.
Hincapie has already agreed verbal terms over a long-term contract with the Gunners and it is only a matter of time before the transfer is sorted.
The 24-year-old has been a regular starter for the Gunners, but should be given a breather during the FA Cup fifth round tie at Mansfield Town.
