Fernandez has flirted with the possibility of leaving the Blues in recent weeks, and he recently talked up his desire to play in Spain.

The midfielder has also spoken about Real Madrid in the past and reports claim that he could push for a fresh challenge.

Chelsea are currently out of the Champions League places in the Premier League. They are lying sixth in the standings.

If they were to miss out on the competition, there is a high possibility that Fernandez may seek a transfer away from west London.

In that case, Chelsea are more than willing to land a replacement with the sum recouped from the sale of the World Cup winner.

The Blues are set to demand a package of at least £100 million to part ways with Fernandez during the next transfer window.
