Manchester United playmaker and captain Bruno Fernandes has his sights on bringing West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Old Trafford this summer.
The Red Devils are prepared to reinforce their midfield department in the summer. A marquee midfielder will be signed to replace Casemiro and the club have set aside a budget of around £80 million.
However, a secondary midfielder could be signed too and reports claim that Fernandes will recommend United to pursue a deal for Mateus, who has been a revelation for the Hammers in the Premier League this term.
Despite West Ham languishing in the drop zone, Fernandes has been a standout performer in the centre of the park. He has won five duels, three tackles and made five recoveries per game for the London side.
He has also chipped in with valuable goal contributions for the Hammers. If West Ham were to be relegated from the top-flight, he could be available for a knockdown price of around £40 million in the summer.
Otherwise, the Hammers would be in a strong position to demand more.
