Manchester United are prepared to compete with Atletico Madrid to land Atalanta midfielder Ederson during the summer transfer window, according to Tutto Atalanta.
The Red Devils are keen on landing a marquee defensive midfielder and they have identified Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson as the prime target to replace Casemiro, who will depart on a free transfer.
However, the hierarchy are also open to purchasing a secondary midfielder for a lesser fee and reports claim that Ederson has re-emerged as a target for the Mancunian giants ahead of the next transfer window.
Ederson was a top transfer target for the Red Devils in 2024 before they signed Manuel Ugarte. He could now be purchased for just 40 million euros with his contract expiring at the end of the next season.
Atletico have already agreed personal terms with the central midfielder and are working on a payment package with Atalanta for the Brazilian ace.
United also have a good working relationship with Atalanta, having previously recruited Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo from them.
They are strongly interested in Ederson too, and look set to provide fierce competition in the pursuit of the 26-year-old in the coming weeks.
