Chelsea and Liverpool want Gregor Kobel

Goalkeeper linked with Blues and Liverpool move

Chelsea and Liverpool want Gregor Kobel

10 April 2026 - 06:35

Chelsea and Liverpool are both being linked with a move for Gregor Kobel, as interest builds around the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper ahead of the summer window.

  • Chelsea want to sign €26m Barcelona midfielder
  • Chelsea enter race to sign €40m German ace

  • Kobel has quietly developed into one of the most dependable keepers in Europe. At Dortmund, he has become a key figure with his shot stopping, positioning and ability to command his area. He is the kind of goalkeeper defenders trust, vocal, confident and consistent over a long run of games. His performances in both the Bundesliga and European competition have not gone unnoticed.

Chelsea’s interest makes sense given the uncertainty they have had in goal. There has been a lack of consistency over the past couple of seasons, and bringing in a more established presence like Kobel would offer stability. He looks like the type of keeper who could come in and immediately improve the back line.

Liverpool being linked is more about planning ahead. They are not in urgent need, but the club has always been proactive when it comes to key positions. Kobel is entering his prime years, and that makes him an attractive option if they are thinking longer term or looking to strengthen competition in the squad.

Dortmund are in a strong position and will not be keen to sell. Any deal would require a significant fee, likely north of 50 million pounds, and convincing the player to move would also be a factor.
