Spurs offer Berbatov new contract

Dimitar Berbatov had been linked with the best clubs in Europe and was supposed to move to a top club in Spain. In the wake of the transfer speculation surrounding him, Tottenham have offered a new and improved £70,000-a-week contract .

Tottenham have not received any bids for Dimitar Berbatov and they have decided to keep the player and force him to sign a new contract of 70,000-a-week. He was informed by the club that he should sign the contract if he doesn't get any good offers from other top clubs.

Tottenham have set an asking rate of 25M for the striker, making his move away from the club tough. Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen to sign the striker, but the Spurs say that no one has approached them.

Juande Ramos is planning to invest on a striker if Berbatov leaves the club, his first-choice being Real Zaragoza striker Diego Millito. The move looks possible as Millito would not want to play in the Spanish Segunda.

Real Zaragoza were relegated last season, and the club has a plethora of stars including Alberto Zapater and Pablo Aimar.</font>
