Andoni Iraola sounded out for Man Utd vacancy

30 April 2026 - 20:14

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as a potential candidate to become the permanent head coach of Manchester United at the end of the campaign, according to The Times.

  • Man Utd star to sign new contract in next 24 hours
  • Napoli & Atletico want to sign Man Utd star for £24m

  • The Red Devils have had a tremendous turnaround under interim boss Michael Carrick this year, and they are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

United's hierarchy are considering Carrick for the permanent role and reports claim that the 44-year-old is a strong favourite for the job heading into the summer.

Still, the board are exploring alternative choices and Iraola has emerged as a realistic target following his decision to leave the Cherries when the season ends.

Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the Spaniard and it remains to be seen where Iraola goes after his decision to pursue a bigger challenge away from Bournemouth.

Iraola was linked with a return to Athletic Bilbao earlier this year, but he is currently not keen on a reunion with the Basque Country outfit.
