Arsenal and Manchester United are prepared to compete for the signature of West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes at the end of the campaign, according to The Times.
The Portugal international signed for the Hammers from relegated Southampton last summer, and he has been a revelation for them in the centre of the park with several standout performances.
Despite his efforts, the Hammers could be relegated from the English top-flight. Even if they avoid the drop, the east London outfit are expected to part ways with Fernandes for a decent profit.
The former Sporting CP graduate was signed for around 40 million pounds and he could be sold for a package of 65 million pounds to one of their Premier League rivals this summer.
United and Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old ace. Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes is a huge admirer of him and has personally recommended his signing to the hierarchy this month.
