Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has urged the club's hierarchy to sign West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes this summer.
The Red Devils are expected to reinforce their midfield department with the prospect of multiple players heading for the exit door.
Casemiro will leave when his contract expires on June 30. United are also contemplating the sale of Manuel Ugarte for a cut-price fee.
Amidst this, West Ham's Mateus has emerged as a target for the Red Devils, and he has been personally recommended by compatriot Bruno.
Mateus has previously described Bruno as his role model and acknowledged that the Red Devils are his favourite English club.
United are not alone in the pursuit of the 21-year-old. Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also weighing up offers for the midfielder.
Mateus was signed by the Hammers for 40 million pounds from Southampton, but he could cost at least 50 million pounds even if the Hammers are relegated from the Premier League.
If they beat the drop, the price tag could increase to 80 million pounds.
