Manchester United are prepared to offer Marcus Rashford as a makeweight to land AC Milan winger Rafael Leao at the end of the campaign.
Rashford has had a fine season with Barcelona, with almost 30 goal contributions on loan, but they are reluctant to sign him permanently.
With La Liga clubs' issues with Financial Fair Play, they have no desire to pay the £26 million buy clause in a single payment this summer.
This could open the door for other teams to land him and United could utilise his services to negotiate a part-exchange deal for Leao later this year.
Leao is expected to be sold by the Rossoneri with two years left on his deal. They could accept £43 million plus a player to part ways with him.
United seem prepared to offer Rashford in a player-plus-cash deal. Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte are other options on the negotiation table.
A deal won't be straightforward with other clubs in the race too.
