Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.
The Hammers failed to beat the drop earlier today and will be playing in the Championship next term. This could coincide with a number of key players heading for the exit door.
Fernandes is one of those touted to leave the east London outfit. He was valued by the Hammers at £80m earlier this month, but the price could be significantly lower now.
With West Ham back in the Championship, the Red Devils could get the opportunity to land him for around £50m. Fernandes seems eager to join United over any other side.
He has personally said that United captain Bruno is his idol. The Portuguese prefers to make the switch to the Red Devils and he is prepared to give them priority.
United are preparing for a busy summer ahead. There could be two midfielders signed as Casemiro will leave on a free transfer and Manuel Ugarte is set to be sold.
