Arsenal have decided against pursuing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer, according to El Chiringuito.
The Gunners are keen on strengthening their frontline ahead of next season and the left wing could be the prime area of focus for the hierarchy.
Despite this, the club have continued to be linked with Alvarez, who is a specialist striker by trade. El Chiringuito have now clarified that the Gunners are no longer interested in securing the services of the former Manchester City man.
They have pulled out of the race due to the huge financial figures. Atletico Madrid are looking for at least 150 million euros for the player after Real Madrid made a similar proposal earlier in the month.
While Arsenal are out of the hunt, Barcelona are still involved and they could be prepared to meet that figure. Alvarez looks likely to continue at Atletico next season and will only consider leaving for Barca.
