Manchester United have turned their attention to landing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha after missing out on Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur, as per BILD.
The Red Devils are determined to bring in another marquee midfielder. West Ham United's Fernandes was the prime target, but he has chosen to commit his future to Spurs instead.
The club are now exploring alternatives and BILD claim that Nmecha is one of the top names on their radar. The German ace is open to a Premier League move, but he won't come on the cheap.
There is no release clause in his current contract at Dortmund, and the Bundesliga giants are expected to demand at least £86 million with some more as performance add-ons for his services.
United were prepared to pay a similar £85m basic fee for Fernandes, but preferred to cover some of it in performance add-ons. It remains to be seen whether Dortmund will entertain such a prospect.
