Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed his decision to keep midfielder Enzo Fernandez at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
The Argentine was linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid earlier this summer, but Los Blancos have ruled out the possibility of signing him with an official statement.
This has left Fernandez with limited options at his disposal. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are among his other admirers, but both would require a big exit.
Amidst this, Alonso has said that he would like to keep the World Cup winner in west London next term and acknowledged that he has already spoken with the experienced ace.
Fernandez has had a good World Cup with Argentina and he will line up in the heart of the midfield against England in the upcoming semi-final at Atlanta on Wednesday.
Regardless of what happens in the next week, Fernandez is expected to have a three-week break due to his World Cup exploits. His future at Chelsea could be decided in August.
