Chelsea are interested in landing Roma midfielder Manu Kone this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Kone has had a stellar World Cup campaign with France, and he is widely expected to leave Roma in the coming days.
Roma need to balance their books before the end of July, and reports claim that he could be sold for around £43 million.
Manchester United have already made contact with the player's agents, but Chelsea could compete for the 25-year-old too.
Kone was previously on the radar of Atletico Madrid, but they could not secure a suitable agreement with the Giallorossi.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man is now keen on moving to the Premier League, and United could have an edge.
Kone prefers to play in the Champions League next term, which United can offer. The Blues are not in any European competition.
The midfielder is presently at the World Cup with Les Bleus and will return to Europe after the third-place play-off against England.
