Martinelli close to Al-Hilal switch

Arsenal set for record sale of 25yo winger

25 August 2026 - 21:07

Arsenal are close to confirming the record departure of winger Gabriel Martinelli to Al-Hilal, according to journalist James Benge.

  • Nottingham Forest agree £45m deal to sign Chelsea striker
  • Newcastle make bid for 21yo Arsenal target

  • The Gunners have deemed the Brazilian surplus to requirements, and he was left out of the matchday squad for the first two games of the season.

Martinelli recently turned down a move to Galatasaray to join an elite European club, but it appears he could change their stance very soon.

Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Al-Hilal to offload the 25-year-old, and they are close to agreeing a deal worth £57m after add-ons.

This would be a record sale for the London giants, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's £35m move to Liverpool is the current standing feat.

Martinelli is said to be disappointed by the club's decision to push him out, but acknowledges that he needs to play regularly in his prime.

The Brazilian ace earns around £180,000 per week at Arsenal and could reportedly earn double in Saudi without any taxes incurred.
