Leeds United are continuing to explore a loan move for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, despite interest from Strasbourg in the Ukrainian international.
According to OneFootball, Leeds want to bring Mudryk in on a season-long loan, with the player currently considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. The situation has opened the door for clubs to test Chelsea’s position before the end of the current window, and Leeds are understood to be among the sides hoping to take advantage.
Strasbourg are also in the picture, but Mudryk is reportedly not keen on a switch to the Ligue 1 club. The winger is said to prefer remaining in England, a stance that could strengthen Leeds’ prospects if Chelsea decide to sanction a temporary move.
For Leeds, a loan deal would represent a way to add another wide option without committing to a permanent transfer at this stage. The club’s interest comes amid uncertainty surrounding Willy Gnonto, although the immediate focus is on whether a suitable agreement can be reached for Mudryk.
Chelsea’s view will be central to any deal, with the Stamford Bridge club needing to decide whether a loan away is the best solution for a player who is not currently central to their plans. Leeds, meanwhile, will hope the player’s preference to stay in England gives them an edge over overseas competition.
No agreement has yet been reported, but Mudryk’s reluctance to move to France keeps the possibility of a Leeds loan alive as the club look to strengthen their attacking options for the season ahead.
