Manchester United are reportedly open to replacing Joshua Zirkzee with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta at the turn of the year.
Zirkzee was regularly linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer and Everton tried to sign him on loan before the deadline.
The Dutchman was more than willing to make the switch, but United declined the proposal as they could not find a suitable replacement for him.
However, they could grant his wish in the next transfer window with plans to bring in Mateta to compete with Benjamin Sesko for the no.9 role.
Mateta will enter the last six months of his Palace contract in January and he has made it clear that he won't be extending his deal any further.
Hence, the Eagles are expected to sanction his sale this winter. United seem prepared to land his signature after allowing the departure of Zirkzee.
They are willing to accept a loan fee for Zirkzee with a buy clause.
