Arsenal are prepared to make a winter approach for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez after failing to sign him during the summer.
The Argentine was the Gunners' top target to bolster the striking department, but they could not persuade him to join them.
Alvarez was adamant about joining Barcelona, but Atletico were adamant that they would not do business with a direct rival.
Barcelona have since moved on from the World Cup winner and they seem unlikely to return for his services next year.
This has emerged as a potential boost for the Gunners, who are prepared to make a renewed attempt to land his services.
Alvarez is also open to considering a return to the Premier League as he has no desire to continue with Atletico for long.
He has been a regular substitute in the ongoing campaign.
Chelsea were also linked with him at one stage, but they don't plan to pay a hefty fee for the former Manchester City man.
