Real Madrid have entered formal talks with Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel over a scholarship contract, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 16-year-old has snubbed a scholarship deal with the Red Devils, and he has asked to be deregistered from the academy squad in order to move on.
Madrid are clear-cut favourites to sign him at the moment, and Romano claims that Los Blancos have informed United that they are talking with Gabriel.
Gabriel has yet to make his competitive debut for the Mancunian giants, and he is said to be frustrated with the lack of a breakthrough this campaign.
The youngster was largely out of contention for pre-season, and he has now decided that his future will be away from the Premier League with Los Blancos.
He will face sterner competition at Madrid than at United, but Los Blancos have given him a positive outlook for his future. He could be loaned out initially.
