Manchester United have reportedly decided against renewing Lisandro Martinez's contract beyond next summer.
The centre-back recently went on a public outburst criticising the hierarchy, which has increased speculation about his future.
Martinez's current deal expires at the end of June next year, but the Red Devils have the option to extend his stay for another 12 months.
However, there is reportedly a verbal agreement that won't be triggered, meaning Martinez could leave on a free transfer next summer.
There is also the possibility that Martinez could be offloaded in the next transfer window if United receive a suitable offer on the table.
Atletico and Barcelona have been credited with an interest in his services and they could make proposals for the former Ajax man.
United could be prepared to sanction his sale, provided Matthijs de Ligt has completely recovered from a long-term back injury.
He was back in the matchday squad in midweek, and it may not be long before the Dutchman returns to the pitch for United.
