Chelsea have no plans to pay over the odds to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in the next transfer window.
The Blues wanted the England international as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez last summer, and made a £68m offer, which was rejected.
Fernandez left without a replacement being signed, but Chelsea are expected to pursue a marquee midfield signing in January or next summer.
Scott will be available for a transfer this winter, but reports claim that the Cherries are expected to demand at least £100m to part ways.
However, Chelsea have no desire to pay such a hefty transfer fee, as they know the midfielder's contract expires in the summer of 2028.
He will enter the last year of his deal next summer with no renewal planned, and Chelsea could potentially sign him for a knockdown fee.
Liverpool likewise share the same stance on the talented midfielder. Scott could possibly be available for £55-60m at the end of the campaign.
