Manchester United are reportedly preparing to part ways with Michael Carrick following the 3-0 Premier League loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils went winless for the eighth straight game following an embarrassing defeat to the Cherries. They were second-best, with several errors in the game.
United were already assessing their options to replace Carrick before the match, and they are now willing to make a change at the helm before the Chelsea trip.
The club are presently just one point adrift of the drop zone and the hierarchy feel a change is necessary to bring out a reaction and script a turnaround in the league.
Chelsea are a tough opposition to face on the road and a managerial bounce could help the Red Devils to secure a positive result in west London next weekend.
Carrick did not rule out the possibility of being dismissed in the post-match presser and a formal announcement could be made as early as Monday morning.
