van Basten 'we were lucky'

Netherlands coach Marco van Basten has admitted that his side were lucky after Holland defeated France 4-1 in the Euro 2008 group stage qualifier on Friday evening.

“We played very well against Italy but tonight we were lucky,” said Van Basten.



“We got the goals at the right time. France tried everything that they could and put us under enormous pressure, so I certainly have to congratulate our defence for the way that they coped.”
