Donadoni proud of Italy

Donadoni proud of Italy

23 June 2008 - 09:02

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has been proud of the way his players represented their country at Euro 2008, despite their early exit to the hands of Spain on penalties.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • He commented: "The players gave it their all, they gave it their best. I'm proud of their efforts and of the football they produced.

"They didn't have a drop of energy left. I am very sorry, very sad for them because they didn't go through. I'm proud, though, the result doesn't matter.

"I feel sorry for the lads, after fighting so bravely. I told the lads they should keep their heads up.

"They should be proud of their performance and of what they have achieved, they gave their best and should learn from this experience."
