Valencia desperate to keep Villa

Valencia desperate to keep Villa

06 July 2008 - 17:47

Spanish side Valencia have been reported to be so desperate to keep star striker David Villa at the Mestalla beyond the summer that they are ready to pay him more than two million pounds per season.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • At the moment Valencia have their own principle of not paying more than 1.5 million pounds per year to a player but they are eager to make Villa an exception on this instance.

David Villa was one of the best players in the recently concluded European championships in Austria and Switzerland and there have been loads of rumours of him leaving the club.

Villa's agent is set to meet the club representatives later in the week to discuss an increase in his wage. Villa could leave the Mestalla though but only at a price of more than 30 million pounds.
