Italian clubs chase Drenthe

11 July 2008 - 09:45

According to reports emanating from Spain, several Italian clubs are desperate for the Real Madrid younsgter Royston Drenthe.

  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • Drenthe was signed from Feyenoord by Real Madrid last summer and although he started quite impressively, he couldn't manage to play regularly for Real Madrid.

This has spurred on reports that Real Madrid do not want him anymore. Drenthe, a Dutch U-21 international, is versatile enough to play as a left winger or as a left back and this has raised his profile and stakes significantly in the transfer market.

It has now emerged that Italians clubs AS Roma and Genoa and a couple of others have expressed interest in the player. Real Madrid though have made no remark on Drenthe's situation but it is generally believed that he shall be let go if h himself wishes so.
