Hleb Joins Barcelona

Hleb Joins Barcelona

17 July 2008 - 17:00

Belarusian international midfielder has eventually moved to Spanish giants FC Barcelona from Arsenal after he passed a medical on Wednesday.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Hleb joins the Catalan giants for just over 11 million pounds after agreeing personal terms last week.

Arsenal then lose one more player and more are to follow. For Alexander Hleb, the move was more of financial than anything else as the player wanted a pay hike which Arsenal refused since they apparently cannot afford that.

Alexander Hleb is supposed to take the place of Ronaldinho who joined AC Milan on Thursday. The Belarusian's main asset is his versatality to play in various positions on the midfield and that is the main reason why he is touted to fit very smoothly into this new look Barcelona midfield that shall be without both the departed duo of Ronaldinho and Deco.

Hleb himself is very much pleased with his move to the Camp Nou and is optimistic that he can succeed at Camp Nou.

"I love this team," said Hleb. "I will give my best and I want to win." everything with Barca."
